ZAMBOANGA CITY — The Land Transportation Office (LTO) is set to conduct next month the National Road Safety Congress here to increase safety awareness among motorists.

Lawyer Aminola Abaton, LTO-9 director, on Monday said the road safety congress in February is expected to be attended by around 1,000 participants from such sectors as the academe, youths, students, uniformed sector, local government units, and others.

Abaton said among the topics that will be tackled include the formulation of strategies to address social awareness and preparedness as far as road safety is concerned.

“What is important is to have (a) tangible program for us to follow from time to time and to be assessed if it is effective,” he said.

Meanwhile, he said they are also planning to hold a road safety drill, road safety theme park, and road safety center for excellence.

He said that Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade and other guests will be invited to grace the congress.
