MANILA — The Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) will organize a pageant for its female employees to boost their camaraderie and as part of its 37th anniversary in March.

Michelle Liwanag, MIAA Public Affairs Department’s marketing and research staff, told the Philippine News Agency (PNA) on Friday that this is the first time the Authority will organize a pageant, dubbed “Binibining MIAA”, for its employees.

“This (pageant) is the highlight of MIAA’s anniversary this year. It aims to boost camaraderie and teamwork among employees, while also providing them with fun during thanksgiving night,” she said.

Liwanag said MIAA might hold another pageant in the coming years, but for different groups. “We might hold a ‘Ginoong MIAA’, ‘Ginang MIAA’, or one for the LGBT,” she said.

For “Binibining MIAA”, Liwanag said each of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) terminals and blocks (corporate, operations, engineering, security and emergency services) will have a representative.

There’s no limit in the number of candidates per terminal and block. They can apply until February 1. One “Binibining MIAA” will be crowned with four runners-up.

“Binibining MIAA 2019” will receive PHP50,000 worth of gift certificates, while the runners-up will get gift certificates worth PHP25,000, PHP15,000, PHP5,000, respectively, based on the memorandum circulated at the airport.

Liwanag, however, said the Authority is still finalizing the prizes.

Meanwhile, MIAA employees will also conduct a “walk for a cause” in March, before the pageant. The beneficiary of this year’s walk has yet to be determined, Liwanag said.
