BAGUIO CITY — The Department of Transportation (DOTr) and the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) have distributed more than 3,000 “Pantawid Pasada” fuel cards to operators of public utility jeepneys (PUJs) in the Cordillera region, an official said Friday.

LTFRB hearing officer, lawyer Jessie Balagot, said some 3,310 fuel cards have been distributed since the start of the card’s release in September last year.

Using the card, a beneficiary can buy fuel from gas stations of Caltex, Petron, Phoenix, Shell, Total, and UniOil.

“We are extending the distribution of the fuel cards. There will be no time frame for this. We would like to assure the operators that we will give them enough time to claim their cards,” Balagot said, noting that 1,648 fuel cards have not been claimed.

He said they are calling on PUJ operators to claim their subsidy for 2018.

“What we are doing right now is calling them one by one to check whether they have already claimed their cards or not. We are still waiting for Landbank to submit their records to double check the numbers of cards that they have distributed and the recipients’ record,” he said.

LTFBRB records show that there are 4,958 “Pantawid Pasada” beneficiaries in the Cordillera.

Each card contains PHP5,000 worth of government subsidy for the PUJ operators’ fuel purchases for 2018.
