AirAsia PH boosts Taiwan routes; to launch Kalibo-Taipei in March

MANILA — AirAsia Philippines is boosting its Taiwan routes this year by increasing flight frequencies and launching a Taipei route from Kalibo International Airport by March, an executive told the Philippine News Agency (PNA) on Monday.

“We saw a lot of interest among Filipinos because of (Taiwan’s) no visa policy,” AirAsia Philippines corporate communications manager Genefer Tan said.

The carrier has added flight frequencies from Manila to Taipei, and also the flights between Manila and Kaohsiung.

Tan noted that AirAsia Philippines is the only airline that serves the Manila-Kaohsiung route.

“(AirAsia) also offers Cebu-Taipei and Clark-Taipei flights. Only AirAsia Philippines offers this (Clark-Taipei) route, too,” she added.

Meanwhile, starting March 31, the budget carrier will begin servicing the Kalibo-Taipei route.

In previous interviews with PNA, AirAsia Philippines CEO Dexter Comendador shared his plans to maximize services that the carrier could offer to and from gateways such as Kalibo and the recently-opened Bohol Panglao International Airport.

He said his team is continuously looking for opportunities to provide more convenience to the passengers.

During Boracay closure, for instance, the carrier started to help passengers to book tickets for ground transport.

AirAsia has offered their customers to book their tickets with them for ground transport, including tricycles that would bring them to the hotels, Comendador said.
