MARIVELES, Bataan — A total of 25 couples exchanged “I dos” in a simple mass wedding held at the People’s Park here Wednesday morning.

Mayor Ace Jello officiated the civil rites, where the pairs passed below a flower-decked arch and a short passage adorned with red carpet.

The park was filled with relatives, friends and godparents of the newly-weds.

The mayor said because the couples were now wed, they were accepting the fact that they were already in a legal stature.

“Marriage has some implications but has more benefits for the family especially the children,” Concepcion said.

Leslee, 39 and Edylin Macalintal, 40, said they were living-in for 17 years already and have four children.

“Ngayon lang kami nagpakasal dahil ngayon lang nagkaroon ng pagkakataon (We only got married today because it is only now that we have an opportunity),” Leslee said.

Asked what they promised each other, Leslee said while looking at his beaming bride: “Habang buhay kaming magsasama (we will be together for as long as we live).”
