DAVAO CITY – The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) is expecting some 150 participants to the Investment Business Conference (iBizCon) to be hosted by Compostela Valley province at the Lubi Plantation, Kopiat Island, in Mabini town on March 5.

Patrick Kim Evangelio, DTI head for Investment, said on Thursday the activity will feature business-matching activities for 30 businesses operators in Comval who are looking for domestic and foreign partners.

Evangelio said the provincial government has also invited foreign investors to participate in the “De Oro Biz ICon 2019”, including Mindanao-based businesses and those coming from Manila and Cebu.

According to Evangelio, the areas for possible investments in ComVal are in agribusiness, tourism, green energy projects, and public infrastructure.

Evangelio said Comval has already identified areas as economic zones near Maco Port, Pantukan Port, and the Mabini Eco Zone.

While the province remains largely agricultural, he said mining is also one of its biggest industries. He added that emerging businesses in agriculture include cacao, rubber production, and palm oil.

The iBizCon dubbed “De Oro Biz iCon 2019” will also be highlighted by the Governor’s Business Report, which will be presented by Governor Jayvee Tyron Uy.

Evangelio said DTI also invited Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark A. Villar and Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade to talk on the Build, Build, Build in Davao Region; Trade Secretary Ramon M. Lopez, Mindanao Development Authority (MinDA) Secretary Datu Abul Khayr Alonto and Presidential Consultant for Entrepreneurship Joey Concepcion to talk on “Expand and Diversify”; Torre Lorenzo Development Corporation Chief Executive Officer Tomas Lorenzo, and Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III to discuss on the “Impact in the Local Economy”.
