Maynilad: Water service interruption in 12 QC villages

By Severino Samonte/PNA

MANILA — Maynilad Water Services Inc. (MWSI) has announced that it is temporarily shutting down its North C Pumping Station and Commonwealth Pumping Station in Quezon City from March 4 to 6 as part of its continuing improvement of programs and services.

MWSI is the company contracted by the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System (MWSS) to provide water to residents of cities and towns comprising the West Zone of Metro Manila and nearby areas.

The water concessionaire said it is undertaking major repair works and maintenance activities in its facilities which will result in water supply interruption in 12 barangays of northern Quezon City, specifically in the three districts covering the Novaliches area.

The water supply interruption is set to take effect from 10 p.m. of March 4 (Monday) to 4 a.m. of March 6 (Wednesday).

The affected barangays are Nagkaisang Nayon, Gulod, North Fairview, Greater Fairview, Holy Spirit, Bagong Silangan, San Bartolome, Bagbag, Sta. Lucia, Sta. Monica, Sauyo, and Talipapa.

Affected residents of these areas have been advised to store enough water that they can use for the duration of the repair and maintenance activities.

The company also said that water customers may also encounter delay in the resumption of their water service due to several factors such as their area’s elevation, the distance from the pumping stations, and the volume withdrawal from the mainlines.

Maynilad said it will conduct the interconnection of its newly installed water pipes in Barangays Commonwealth and Payatas.
