MANILA — Everything’s set for flag carrier Philippine Airlines (PAL) Manila-Phnom Penh flights that will start on April 1, an airline executive said on Friday.

Jose Perez de Tagle, PAL vice president for communications, said PAL officials met with some officials of Phnom Penh earlier this week and also briefed the Cambodian media about the upcoming route.

“The Minister in charge of State Secretariat of Civil Aviation (SSCA), Mao Havanall, publicly presented PAL with the approved landing permit for the Phnom Penh-Manila service,” he told the Philippine News Agency (PNA).

PAL officials, led by its president, Jaime Bautista, also met with Minister of Tourism Thong Khon and SSCA State Secretary Chea Aun, de Tagle added.

“Mr. Bautista said that with the support of these officials, the five times weekly PAL service to Cambodia is ‘green and go’,” he said.

The weekly flight will be every Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, using the Airbus A320 that has a 156-seating capacity.

De Tagle said Bautista told the Cambodian officials that PAL is happy to bolster tourist traffic in both directions and enrich the appreciation of the two countries’ cultures.

Bautista earlier announced that PAL will be the first airline to establish direct link between the Cambodian capital and the Philippines.
