MANILA — A different ballot will be used by voters in the overseas absentee voting (OAV), the Commission on Elections (Comelec) said Monday.
Comelec spokesperson James Jimenez noted that the OAV ballots will only have national positions, namely senators and party-list groups.
“Ballots for overseas voting needed special printing because they look very differently,” he said in an interview.
There are a total of 1,822,173 registered voters for the OAV.
Voting will start in different Philippine posts in other countries on April 13 or one month before the holding of elections in the Philippines, which is on May 13.
Director Elaiza Sabile-David of the Comelec-Office for Overseas Voting earlier reported that the shipping of the ballots and other paraphernalia for Filipinos abroad will start this week.
“We have started the packing of ballots, which will be shipped to the different posts to be delivered to voters overseas,” she said.
Aside from the ballots, the poll body official added that the instructions to voters and the list of candidates for the 2019 elections, among others, will also be included in the shipping.
The ballots were printed at the National Printing Office in Quezon City.
