CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga — The provincial government of Pampanga on Monday received PHP5-million financial assistance from the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) for the recent earthquake victims.
Governor Lilia Pineda personally received the financial aid from PCSO Board of Director Sandra Cam.
Cam told the governor the financial assistance was made possible through the initiative of President Rodrigo Duterte.
“The President told me na hindi pwedeng ma-delay yung assistance (that the assistance should not be delayed),” Cam said.
With this, the governor thanked the government for the assistance as she requested the PCSO official to modify the purpose of the donation through a board resolution.
Instead of relief assistance, Pineda suggested to use the donation as an additional fund for the proposed construction of PCSO Aeta Community Village in Porac town.
The proposal was acknowledged by Cam as she personally saw the situation of the earthquake victims in the affected areas.
The governor said they are now eyeing for the immediate construction of the bunkhouses intended for the Aeta families who lost their homes due to the impact of the 6.1 magnitude earthquake that hit some parts of Luzon last week.
“The Aetas living in the highland areas will be the priority in the establishment of the PCSO Aeta Community Village,” she said.
Based on the report from the Department of Social Welfare and Development, there are 1,112 houses totally and partially damaged by the tremor in Pampanga.
