MANILA — Two ships of the Royal Thai Navy (RTN), the HTMS Taksin (FFG-422) and the HTMS Krabi (OPV-551), will dock at the Alava Wharf in Olongapo City for a goodwill visit from Wednesday to Saturday.

Philippine Navy (PN) spokesperson, Capt. Jonathan Zata, said the two ships will arrive at the facility at about 3 p.m. Wednesday.
“A welcome ceremony and media engagement will be conducted during the arrival of the said RTN vessels,” Zata said.

HTMS Taksin, commissioned in 1995, is a modified version of the Chinese-made Type 053 frigate, designed and built by the China State Shipbuilding Corp. in Shanghai.

While HTMS Krabi is an offshore patrol vessel of the RTN and modified River-class patrol vessel, and was built by the Mahidol Adulyadej Naval Dockyard, with design and technology transfer support from BAE Systems Surface Ships.
