IMUS CITY, Cavite — The Commission on Election (Comelec) announced that machine counting of election vote returns at the city’s Multi-Purpose Hall resumes at 1 p.m. Tuesday (May 14) after technicians finish reconfiguring four corrupted SD cards used in four clustered precincts.
Comelec Imus City acting head Arman Bencilao said the city is one of several polling precincts in the province that encountered technical glitches on Election Day.
“There were corrupted SD cards in some of the city’s clustered precincts, specifically four out of the 217,” he told the Philippine News Agency (PNA) on Tuesday.
He clarified that while manual voting process continued, the “counting (of ballots) is through machine”.
The four clustered precincts are in Maharlika village, Pasong Santol, Poblacion and Espilita.
Comelec’s technical team is now re-configuring the corrupted SD cards to make them operational by 1 p.m.
The city was placed under Comelec’s Election Watchlist Areas (EWA) due to intense rivalry between incumbent mayor Emmanuel Maliksi and former mayor and city Board Member Homer Saquilayan.
The Comelec, meanwhile, refused to issue partial, unofficial results until after the resumption of machine counting this afternoon.
