MANILA — The Philippine National Police (PNP) personnel will undergo counter-terrorism training to be conducted by the Israel police, PNP chief, Gen. Oscar Albayalde, said on Monday.

Albayalde said he requested the training from the Israel police during a week-long seminar he and other PNP officials attended in Israel from May 27 to June 1.

“What we asked from them is training kasi alam naman natin talaga sila is always very alert iba talaga ang level of training nila it’s because iba ang level of threat sa kanila (because we know that they are always very alert and they have very high level of training because of level of threat in their country),” Albayalde said in a press conference at Camp Crame.

“So I asked if probably have training to be conducted here at the PNP and dito sa mga camps naming (here in our camps) and they are very willing to share their skills and knowledge,” he added.

He said last week’s seminar focused on many challenges the PNP has been facing like the campaign against terrorism.

“Our discussion with the Israeli counterparts focused on the challenges being faced by the PNP, our campaign against terrorism, specifically, the ISIS, and our continuing efforts to fight this menace,” Albayalde said.

He said the PNP continues to closely coordinate and cooperate with their international counterparts in the light of previous terror attacks worldwide.

“The PNP continues to be aggressive in intelligence and information gathering to address threats and violence,” he said.

Albayalde said there was no threat of terrorism being monitored in the country.

He, however, said the PNP remains on alert against any terror attack throughout the country.

“By this effort, we greatly recognize the contribution of the international community as far as terrorism is concerned,” said Albayalde.
