COTABATO CITY – The Metro Cotabato Water District (MCWD) here has reminded all water concessionaires in the city and the nearby towns of Sultan Kudarat and Datu Odin Sinsuat in Maguindanao to save water in containers at home in cases of unexpected water service interruption.
The MCWD issued the reminder despite the expected onset of the rainy season this month, noting that downpours have an unintended impact on water supply.
The water utility firm pointed out that moderate to heavy downpour in the past few days has caused turbidity in the Dimapatoy water source supplying the southern part of the city.
“When that happens, the MCWD is forced to reduce water production in its treatment plant to ensure quality water is flowing to the faucets of concessionaires,” the MCWD said in its social media post.
In a post on its official social media page, the MCWD said concessionaires must develop the habit of saving water so that supply at home is enough during an emergency.
The Dimapatoy watershed area is situated in nearby Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao. In the northern side, the MCWD has tapped Simuay River in Barangay Macaguiling, Sultan Kudarat, to supply potable water to the locals and city water concessionaires as well.
The MCWD has urged the public to regularly visit its website for updates on the water supply situation in the city and neighboring areas.
