MANILA — All security measures are in place for the country’s 121st Independence Day celebration on June 12, the Philippine National Police (PNP) said Tuesday.

PNP spokesperson, Col. Bernard Banac, said PNP Chief, Gen. Oscar Albayalde, has instructed all police personnel to provide security measures to ensure the peaceful conduct of Independence Day rites, which carries the theme, “Kalayaan 2019: Tapang ng Bayan, Malasakit sa Mamamayan”.

“We urge everyone to participate in the celebration of Independence Day tomorrow (Wednesday). The PNP is ready to secure all activities in line with the occasion. We have not received so far any security threat,” Banac told reporters.

He said the PNP will also provide maximum deployment of police officers and civil disturbance management for mass protests in all places of engagement to ensure peace and order during the occasion.

The activities for the celebration include simultaneous flag-raising ceremonies in various parts of the country, job fairs, and a concert in Manila.
