DAVAO CITY — A total of 7,493 local and overseas job vacancies are available during the Independence Day job fair here on Wednesday (June 12).
Eduardo Monreal, Department of Labor and Employment-11 (DOLE)-11 communications officer, said the agency hosted its annual Independence Day job fair dubbed “2019 Kalayaan Trabaho, Negosyo, Kabuhayan Job and Business Fair” from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Monreal said 560 employers, consisting of 461 local and 99 overseas, are participating in the event at the NCCC Mall in Barangay Buhangin here.
He said there are 4,522 job vacancies from 50 local employers and 2,971 job vacancies from 17 overseas employers.
The most in-demand jobs for local employment are the customer service representatives, laborers, promotional demo/brand specialists and merchandisers, technical support representatives, mechanical helpers, cashiers, mechanical equipment installers, baggers, counter-checkers, mechanical erectors, service crews, and production workers.
For overseas, the top vacancies open for job seekers are cleaners, staff nurses (ICU, NICU, PICU, OR, general nurses and clinic nurses for females only), cashiers, waitresses and waiters, female staff nurses, furniture installers and assemblers, juice makers, personal trainers, English teachers (male and female) for China and Japan, pipe fitters and meat inspectors (male and female) for Australia. Monreal said DOLE-1I has conducted a pre-registration from June 7 to 11.
“We are expecting about 2,000 to 4,000 jobseekers during the activity and senior high school graduates are very much welcome to participate,” he said.
Also available during the event is a one-stop-shop for job seekers, who have incomplete or no work documents, to be provided by national government agencies such as the Department of Foreign Affairs, the National Bureau of Investigation, and the Social Security System.
Jenifer Apatan, a fresh graduate from Central Mindanao University (CMU), said she was thankful that government agencies will be available so that she can secure the requirements during the job fair.
“I really find it useful because I will be able to experience and witness the joy and hardships of applying for a job. If given a chance, I will have a bigger opportunity to get hired in an instant,” the Development Communications graduate said.
Apart from the job fair, the Department of Trade and Industry will also conduct skills training such as fabric conditioner and liniment making for some 160 participants.
