DAVAO CITY — Undefeated Samuel “Silent Assassin” Salva of Iligan City will challenge defending International Boxing Federation (IBF) World minimumweight champion DeeJay Kriel of South Africa in Manila on August 24.

The 22-year-old Salva with a current record of 17 wins and 10 knockouts last won by a unanimous decision against Rene Mark Cuarto of Zamboanga on March 23 in Pasay City.

In 2017, Salva TKO’d Marco John Rementizo of Cagayan de Oro in the first round of the October 15 bout in Iligan to win the vacant Minproba minimumweight title.

The August 24 fight will be the first title defense of the 24-year-old Kriel, who won via 12th round knockout against Carlos Licona of the United States on February 16 in Los Angeles, California.

Kriel with 15 wins, one loss, and 7 knockouts, earlier won the WBC International minimumweight title by a unanimous decision over Xolisa Magusha of South Africa.

Kriel also won by unanimous decision over Dexter Alimento of Iligan on July 23, 2017, at Kempton Park, South Africa,
