Senator-elect Christopher “Bong” Go

MANILA — Senator-elect Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go deserves his seat in the Senate, President Rodrigo Duterte said on Thursday.

Duterte said this after administering the oath of office to his long-time aide in Malacañang, a news statement of which was released the following day.

“You deserve it, this is your destiny,” the President said

Duterte also reminded Go of his “sacred duty” to serve the people. “And may I remind you of your sacred duty, ‘Ang serbisyo sa tao ay serbisyo sa Diyos (Service to the people is service to God).’ Congratulations and more power!”.

Go was proclaimed number three in the final tally of the 2019 senatorial race, garnering 20,657,702 votes, the highest among the newly-elected neophyte senators.

Go earlier bared his legislative priorities focused on health, housing, and sports, which include the institutionalization of Malasakit Centers in every province and big-chartered cities and the provision of affordable houses for all, especially the poor and homeless.
