Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte

MANILA — Malacañang is praying for the quick recovery of Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte after she announced that she will be missing the fourth State of the Nation Address (SONA) of her father, President Rodrigo Duterte, due to a medical condition.

Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo admitted that although he just heard about Sara’s medical condition, the Palace would pray for her.

“We can only pray for her safety and or recovery from whatever illness that she is presently suffering,” Panelo said in a Palace briefing on Thursday.

Sara reportedly said she will be on a 60-day leave due to a gynecological condition.

The President’s youngest son and Davao City Vice Mayor Sebastian “Baste” Duterte, will also be missing the SONA at the Batasang Pambansa.

Baste earlier said he would skip the SONA because of a regular session of Davao City’s Sangguniang Panlungsod and would just watch his father on television.
