53 barangays declared as “drug-cleared” by the regional oversight committee on Barangay Drug Clearing Program (BDCP).

The PDEA Regional Office – National Capital Region (RO-NCR) conducted a Regional Oversight Committee on Barangay Drug Clearing Program for the Clearing and Declaration of fifty-five (55) applicant barangays that are considered as drug affected from the cities throughout Metro Manila on Wednesday, August 28, 2019 at the Narra Hall, 2nd floor, Youth Development Center (YDC), Rainforest Park, Brgy. Maybunga, Pasig City.

The Regional Oversight Committee are composed of PDEA as Chair, led by RO-NCR Regional Director Joel B. Plaza as represented by Atty. Leonard Atienza, co-chaired with members from the other Government Agencies such as the Philippine National Police (PNP) represented by PCol Jemar D. Modequillo, Chief, RCADD-NCRPO; Department of Interior and Local Government-NCR (DILG-NCR) represented by Ms. Abigayle C. Baligod, DILG Chief of Staff; Department of Health-NCR (DOH-NCR) represented by Dr. Laila Celino; Hon. Gian Sotto, Vice-Mayor of Quezon City, and members of the Anti-Drug Abuse Council of Pasig (ADCOP) together with the Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Councils (BADACs).

This undertaking is in line with the Three-Pronged Approach of holistic anti-drug strategy adopted by the PDEA (Supply Reduction, Demand Reduction and Harm Reduction) as the national anti-drug campaign in building drug resistant communities.

As of July 31, 2019, a total of two hundred fifty-one (251) Barangays are already declared as “DRUG-CLEARED” by the Committee. Out of the fifty-five (55) Barangay who applied for the Drug Clearing Program this month of August, only fifty-three (53) Barangays has been declared as “Drug-Cleared”. Meanwhile, two Barangays has failed to comply with the requirements set by the Dangerous Drugs Board.

This newly declared fifty-three (53) drug-cleared Barangays will be added to the two hundred and fifty-one (251) previously cleared Barangays, making it a total of three hundred and four (304) drug-cleared Barangays for the period of January to August of 2019.

As set forth in Section 11 of DDB Regulation No. 8, series of 2017, after conducting drug-clearing operations in the barangay, the oversight committee will issue the drug-cleared certification of a barangay that had complied with the parameters set by the board regulation.

The local chief executive or the ADAC chairman will then attest to the certification made by the local chief of police and validated by the PDEA Regional Director.
