MMDA: Nationwide transport strike, unsuccessful

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has reported that the nationwide transport strike staged today by the Alliance of Concerned Transport Organizations (ACTO) and Pinagkaisang Samahan ng mga Tsuper at Operator Nationwide (PISTON) has not ben successful. At 8:30 A.M., traffic was restored back to its normal flow in areas affected by the protest due to free rides offered by different arms of the government. The suspension of classes and some government offices also helped in cushioning the impact of the strike, the MMDA added.
