Caraga rookie cops undergo drug test

Libertad, Butuan City — Caraga rookie cops on Field
Training Program undergo surprise drug test today at the Headquarters of Police Regional Office (PRO) 13.

In a statement, PRO13 Regional Director PBGen Joselito T. Esquivel Jr. ordered a drug test
for total of 363 Police trainees under Field Training Program of PRO13 after a rookie policeman
was arrested in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Bading, Butuan City on September 28.

“Under my watch, I will make sure that members of PNP Caraga are drug-free and (have) no involvement in any illegal activities while enforcing the law against illegal drugs. It is also one of
my ways of cleaning the ranks to live up to its drive of Excellent, Disciplined and Professional
police officers,” RD Esquivel Jr. said.

The 363 Police Trainees were gathered in-front of PRO13 Grandstand when Crime Laboratory Office 13 personnel arrived and conducted the surprise drug test. No one could leave the headquarters unless they were done with the drug test.

PBGen Esquivel said that there will be continuous drug-testing for all police personnel in the region.

“If in case a police officer will be found positive in drug test, then he will have to face dismissal
from service, but of course they will undergo investigation and due process. But I guess there is no
reason for a police to have a positive result in drug-test,” he said.
