DOJ studies reduction of age for criminal responsibility

The Department of Justice (DOJ) will ask the Congress of the Philippines to examine closely the bill that seeks to lower down the age of criminal responsibility. DOJ chief Menardo Guevarra elaborates that crime syndicates are aware of the light penalty and jailing exemptions enforced on youth offenders. He adds that with the reduction of the age of criminal responsibility, it would be difficult for the syndicates to persuade minors to engage in illegal activities.
