Police dies in armed encounter

CAMP GEN ALEJO S SANTOS, City of Malolos, Bulacan — A police corporal died during an armed encounter with a suspect at Alveo Relocation Site in Brgy Lalangan, Plaridel, Bulacan on October 18, 2019 about 11:30 PM.

PCOL CHITO G BERSALUNA, Provincial Director of Bulacan PNP identified the fatality as PCpl Ronnie Tamaliuan, member of Bulacan Provincial Intelligence Branch (PIB).

Plaridel police reports that on October 18, 2019 at about 10:00 PM, a telephone call was received by their personnel from Brgy Captain Danilo Tayao of Brgy Lalangan, Plaridel, Bulacan that an alleged armed group was roaming around the said relocation site led by the suspect and threatening the barangay tanods. Upon receipt of the information, police personnel were immediately deployed to the area.

Plaridel police requested the assistance of the Provincial Intelligence Branch (PIB) and SWAT Bulacan PPO. Upon positive verification of the house of the suspect identified as Nesty Nacino alias Wek, a resident of Lalangan Plaridel Bulacan, who was allegedly released from Bulacan Provincial Jail for a drug case, an armed encounter ensued. The suspect fired towards the responding PNP personnel using a shotgun. PCpl Tamaliuan was shot in his body.

PCpl Tamaliuan was brought to Peralta Hospital in Plaridel, Bulacan for medical treatment but was pronounced dead on arrival by the attending physician.

The suspect Alias Wek managed to escape and entered into a building under construction and again a gunfight ensued. The suspect threw a hand grenade at the pursuing police officers but it hit the wall and bounced back inside but did not explode. The suspect was eventually neutralized.

The SOCO and EOD were requested to process the crime scene.

Bulacan police is grieving for the loss of one of its comrades who courageously put his life at stake to fulfil his sworn duty to serve and protect.
