Former Senate Pres. Aquilino Pimentel, Jr dies at 85

Former Senate President Aquilino Pimentel Jr., the father of the Local Government Code, has succumbed to cancer and passed away at age 85. This was confirmed by his son, Sen. Koko Pimentel in a Facebook post.

Known as the Father of the Local Government Code, this native of Northern Mindanao was an esteemed statesman who founded the Partido Demokratiko Pilipino- Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban) and of late was visible in pursuing the federal system of government.
Malacañang extends its sympathies to the family of the former senator. Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo also extends the gratitude of the Palace for Pimentel’s fearless and immeasurable service for the country.
