Two days after the devastation of the 6.9 magnitude earthquake in Davao del Sur province, authorities confirmed that there is no sign of life in the disintegrated South Green store in Padada municipality. The Bureau of Fire Protection Region XI explained that the conclusion resulted from the absence of individuals approaching it for missing relatives. Consequently, the special rescue unit attending the fallen edifice stated that it is now down to a mere retrieval undertaking lasting until the team reaches the first floor of the building. Further, the local government of Padada switched its focus to the needs of the residents in the 17 barangays in the municipality.
There were 26 employees on duty in the grocery store when the shake transpired. All of them were confirmed alive except of Emely Beloy whom was found dead last night, December 16, 2019 beyond 9:00 P.M.
The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Region XI started its assessment on the families that were afflicted with the quake in Padada. 3,182 households were initially recorded. The office prepared its aide to said families, in the form of food packs, laminated tents, and other relief items that will be handed to them today, December 17.
There are approximately 30 households staying in the temporary shelter installed by the DSWD on the open ground of Barangay Quirino, Padada.
A certain private school partake in the relief efforts in the area via providing free water and some food to the people.
The Padada residents are in need of food, water, and tents.
