Cimatu goes to Middle East for the repatriation of Filipinos

Following the escalating tension between the United States of America and Iran that manifests in Middle East, Special Envoy to Middle East and Department of Environment and Natural Resources chief Roy Cimatu flies to the region today, January 09, 2020 to facilitate the repatriation of Filipinos situated in the area. He informed that the pullback of compatriots in Iraq will push through. Further, he pointed out that the repatriation should commence now as it will be more difficult to execute the same once the clash begins.

The ground plan for the pullback consists of two possible routes. The first one is that from the Philippine embassy in Baghdad, Iraq, the Filipinos will proceed to Jordan, then to either Dubai or Qatar, then to Philippines. The other track is from said embassy, going to either Dubai or Qatar, then to the Philippines.
