Malacañang sees nothing wrong on move to take VFA issue to SC

Malacañang said it sees nothing wrong on the plans of some senators to bring to the Supreme Court the issue on the termination of Visiting Forces Agreement (VFA) between the Philippines and America.

According to Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo, they respect the move of the senators since they have the right as officials to take such course of action and seek judicial intervention in the interpretation of the law.

” That is their right, if they have any constitutional issue to be raised and they are uncertain of what the constitution really means, that is the job of the Supreme Court to tell us if they are right or wrong,” Panelo said.

The Palace expressed confidence the VFA termination will push through even if it passes through court scrutiny since it has legal basis, similar to the earlier statements made by President Duterte. – Report from Mela Lesmoras
