Volcanic quakes in Taal weaken

The volcanic quakes of the Taal volcano have reportedly been weaker in the past 24 hours.

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) has recorded 65 volcanic quakes Tuesday, February 18, 2020, as compared to the 69 volcanic tremors listed in the past days.

PHIVOLCS Executive director Renato Solidum has explained that volcanic quakes were induced by the burst of magma from the volcano.

The fumes released by the volcano have been measured to be at 100 to 200 meters, lower than 300 meters.

According to PHIVOLCS, Taal volcano has remained a threat and Alert level 2 has still been maintained.
