BI implements total personnel revamp on NAIA 1, 2

The Bureau of Immigration (BI) has implemented a total revamp of personnel at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) terminals 1 and 2 in line with the directive of President Rodrigo Duterte.

The revamp covers all personnel assigned to NAIA terminals from Port Operations Division deputies, terminal heads to counter personnel, except for chief of POD which will be decided by the DOJ.

The Bureau said the changes mean to enable better performance and encourage skill upgrades, as well as serve as necessary precaution against possible avenues for graft and corruption.

Lacson, Duterte react

Senator Panfilo Lacson believes the lack of overtime pay is not a reason to turn corrupt

“The suspension or termination of their overtime pay and their non-inclusion in the salary hike of other government employees should not be a justifiable reason to commit illegal acts in order to augment their income,” Lacson said.

“Nung pumasok kami bilang mga kawani ng gobyerno, alam naman namin ang mga limitations, even sacrifices, as well as the benefits that go with it,” he added.

Meanwhile, the President said he has no plans in sacking BI Chief Jaime Morente, and will just wait for the results of the investigation on the “pastillas” scheme before taking action.

The Chief Executive also warned of dismissing more corrupt officials.

‘Yung ano, I am insisting on the ouster of all who are connected. I think we have terminated. But there will be more. I think I’d… Meron atang napaalis na. But they should be replaced, all of them. And I am for the… I am asking the commissioner of the Civil Service na to give me a list of first grade nung nakapasa,” he said. – Report from Kenneth Paciente
