‘Dirty money’, ‘pastillas’ bribery scheme discussed in Cabinet meeting

Malacañang has confirmed that last night’s 47th Cabinet meeting included the discussion of corruption issues such as the “pastillas” bribery scheme and the increasing “dirty money” in the country.

Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo said President Duterte has already ordered the Department of Finance (DOF) to investigate the issue on dirty money or the alleged massive money laundering activities of syndicates.

Panelo added the President has given Bureau of Immigration (BI) Chief Jaime Morente the chance to address the “pastillas” operations mess.

“Commissioner Morente was there, he presented. Well apparently, he (President Duterte) is giving Commissioner Morente a chance to do some innovations in the customs department. He reported on what they tend to do about it. In other words, I think they are introducing an executive order,” Panelo said.
