DFA prepares repatriation of Filipino domestic helpers in HK

The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) has started to prepare for the repatriation of Filipino domestic helpers in Hong Kong after being fired by their employers in the midst of the Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) outbreak.

In a tweet, DFA Sec. Teodoro Locsin expressed dismay over the actions of employers in Hong Kong despite efforts to convince them to retain the Filipinos.

In a report of South China Morning Post, the domestic helpers were fired for going out on their days-off amidst the COVID-19 threat.
