NCRPO joins hands with DOH as the battle against COVID-19 continues

The Philippines is now on CODE RED alert level as another case of COVID -19 was confirmed by Health Secretary Francisco Duque III bringing the total number of infected to six (6).

Today, March 07, 2020, the National Capital Region Police Office spearheaded by PMGEN DEBOLD M SINAS, Regional Director, visited Dr. Francisco Duque III, Secretary of Health and conducted a meeting with Director Gloria J. Balboa of Health Emergency Management Bureau, DOH to discuss the assistance that the law enforcers can extend in the fight against Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) at DOH Command Center.

It has been cleared that police personnel’s primary role will be as first responders. NCRPO Regional Director ensures that the Quick Reponse Team (QRT) of NCRPO will wear goggles and gloves with ability to decontaminate as well as disposable mask to be worn by those who are more exposed to crowd for safety and protection. Further, the QRT composed of nurses and doctors with vehicle can be deployed anytime. There are also expert police personnel who will be trained on testing in collaboration with Research Institute for Tropical Medicine RITM.

“The NCRPO is taking all steps to prevent the transmission of COVID -2019 and ensure that our people are well informed. In line with this, we are also developing guidelines including what to do up to family level precautions. On our part, there is also a cancellation on the schooling and international travels of our men especially those that are not emergency”, PMGEN DEBOLD M SINAS stated.

“We also appeal to the public to calm down and stop the spread of fake news. The DOH will keep all of us posted to avoid confusion and panic. Let us also take our part in this battle by observing precautionary measures such as handwashing, covering of mouth when coughing and keeping sanitation especially of door knobs”, he added.

To further reach out to the public, NCRPO reiterated the hotlines to be contacted for possible COVID-19 cases.
