PNP raises full alert status due to COVID-19

The Philippine National Police (PNP) is on full alert status after the Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) alert has been raised to code red sub-level 2 effective Friday.

The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) as well as police offices in Regions 3, 4-A, 4-B, and 5, are on full alert status while the other police regional offices can decide on the alert status in their respective areas.

After President Rodrigo Duterte’s announcement of the implementation of the community quarantine in Metro Manila due to Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19), government security forces have established checkpoints on the entry and exit points of the NCR.

Meanwhile, the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) has clarified that there are exemptions on the suspension of domestic travel.

Interior Secretary Eduardo Año has stated that the DILG will release a list of exempted individuals such as hospital patients and workers of NCR who can enter the region. – Report from Bea Bernardo
