DepEd eyes online exams amid class suspension

The Department of Education (DepEd) is considering online examinations for students affected by the recently declared suspension of classes until April 12 amid the “community quarantine” in the National Capital Region (NCR).

DepEd Undersecretary Alain Pascua says it is one of the options to get the final grade for the entire school year, except for the computation of grades from the first to third grading, including the current class standing.

Meanwhile, the fourth quarter examinations will push through in schools outside Metro Manila which the DepEd has advised to be done on staggered basis.

“Ang fourth quarter examination ay gagawin sa paaralan on a staggered basis. (The fourth quarter examination will be done on a staggered basis). Ibig sabihin, ang mga bata ay pupunta sa eskwelahan para mag-take ng examination (Which means students will only go to school to take the exam). Pero staggered basis, kung kelan lang sila mag-eexam, doon lang sila papasok (But on a staggered basis, they will only go to school during their exam schedule),” USec. Pascua explains. – Report from Naomi Tiburcio
