COVID-19 cases in Ph now at 64

The Department of Health (DOH) on Friday has reported 12 additional COVID-19 positive individuals, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in the country to 64.

The health department’s report also states that all of the 12 cases have been admitted to various hospitals.

Based on DOH data, patients number 53, 54, and 58 are residents of Mandaluyong, Pasig, and Makati, respectively. Patient 60 is also from Makati, while patients 63 and 64 are residents of Rizal and Manila.

Meanwhile, the DOH together with concerned local government units (LGUs), has been conducting extensive information gathering and contact tracing activities on the new cases.

The health department states that available data show elderly people with the average age of 66 and those with underlying medical conditions such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes, cancer, and chronic lung disease are vulnerable to COVID-19.

The department has urged people with existing health conditions to be more vigilant, and to avoid crowded areas and mass gatherings. – Report from Mark Fetalco
