Quezon City declares state of calamity amid the COVID-19 threat.

Mayor Joy Belmonte has declared a state of calamity for Quezon City amid the COVID-19 threat. The move aims to speed up the city’s quick response in addressing the needs of residents in countering the disease. The latest data reveals the city has six confirmed positive cases of COVID-19.

Belmonte said they will be placing checkpoints in Quezon City bordering provinces such as Bulacan and Rizal. She clarified that workers from the said places are allowed to enter Quezon City.

The mayor assured that hospitals in the city, both public and private, are ready to admit anyone who has symptoms of the disease. She added that barangay workers have been trained on how to address residents who seek for assistance.
