CSC, COA to compensate government seasonal workers

by Eunice Samonte/PTV News

Amid the community quarantine imposed on Metro Manila by Pres. Rodrigo R. Duterte on Thursday, Sen. Joel Villanueva assured that job orders (JOs), casuals and contracts of service working in government shall be properly compensated. The restrictions under Code Red Sub-level 2 include reduced number of working hours and work-from-home options in the public service sector and the senator sought the support of proper authorities.

“There are circulars governing JOs, casuals, contract of service et al. The Office of Chairperson (Alicia dela Rosa-Bala of) CSC said they are okay with our proposals maka-receive ng compensation.” Sen. Villanueva shared.

There are circulars governing the COS and JOs jointly issued by the Civil Service Commission (CSC) and the Commission on Audit (COA) so there is a need for the latter’s concurrence.

COA Chairperson Michael G. Aguinaldo is now inclined to the position that JOs and COS should be paid. The COA will be discussing the subject in their meeting on Monday.
