The donation from China that includes 100,000 test kits and other needed equipment to aid the the Philippine government’s fight against COVID-19 has arrived Saturday in the country.
Aside from test kits, the aid contains 100,000 surgical masks, 10,000 N-95 masks, and 10,000 personal protection equipment (PPE).
Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) Secretary Teodoro Locsin Jr. and Chinese Ambassador to the Philippines Huang Xilian witnessed the turnover of equipment earlier today.
The DFA expressed appreciation for the initiative of China and added that cooperation is needed amid the COVID-19 fight.
“It is a model of what the rest of the world should be doing. Instead of blaming each other for what is happening, we should all start working together to help each other,” Locsin said.
“Our president said the need to starve the virus (of victims). That’s how to do it, and the one that showed the way was China,” he added.
Meanwhile, the Department of Health (DOH) has announced the four subnational laboratories that can process 50 to 300 daily COVID-19 testing are now operational. – Report from Patrick de Jesus
