Manila temporarily bans liquor amid ECQ period

The local government of Manila has imposed a liquor ban in the entire city amid the implementation of enhanced community quarantine.

Based on the Executive Order (EO) signed by Mayor Isko Moreno, the distribution and selling of any intoxicating beverages starting today is strictly prohibited.

The city mayor has expressed dismay on the reported violations of some individuals on social distancing measures and curfew due to gatherings and drinking sessions outside their homes.

Moreno has also warned that business owners who defy the order will be sanctioned.

We temporarily prohibit and waive the right and privilege we have granted to liquor stores. We temporarily waive it, so those in 7-Eleven, Ministop, shops in malls and groceries – you are not allowed to sell liquor),” Moreno explained. – Report from Kenneth Paciente
