The digitaljobsPH project of the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) is offering various tracks of free online technical trainings to the general public as the nation heads into extended quarantine until April 30, 2020.
“We will continue to work towards the mitigation of the COVID-19 threat for our workers, entrepreneurs and leaders through ICT-enabled capacity-building initiatives in line with the directives of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte and in support of the measures issued by the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases,” DICT Secretary Gregorio B. Honasan said.
The technical trainings or webinars aim to provide alternative learning opportunities for the working population whose livelihoods were disrupted as the government imposed the quarantine to mitigate the COVID-19 threat. The participation of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) from affected sectors is likewise encouraged to boost skills development during the hiatus.
In particular, the Social Media Marketing track focuses on proper management of social media platforms to optimize social campaigns and promote brand growth in the digital market so affected MSMEs can strategize business plans even amidst the pandemic. This online training will run for 7 days at 2 hours per session for total of 14 hours, employing both lectures and hands-on activities.
As for the Comprehensive Affiliate Marketing track, parents who had been rendered jobless by the quarantine will develop skill sets that can allow them to work freelance jobs through the 10-day full-cycle training and support for a total of 20 hours. Activities include website creation using WordPress, content writing, SEO and link building strategies.
There will also be four (4) digital governance trainings for chief information officers (CIOs), planning or policy officers, ICT service officers, ICT project managers, management information system (MIS) officers, and ICT professionals of government and private organizations.
“DICT developed these webinars in line with the social distancing and stay at home directives of President Duterte and the IATF to help the working population adapt to the current situation that require remote work as well as online learning,” Assistant Secretary Emmanuel Rey Caintic stated.
These introductory trainings on Digital Governance ICT Service Management Framework, Privacy Impact Assessment of an Information and Communications System Program or Project, Enterprise reference Architecture of Digital Transformation, Data Driven Governance and Digital Transformative Technologies are set on April 21, 23, 28 and 30, respectively.
Currently all slots for the various tracks had been filled, with training proper expected to run from April 16, 2020 onwards.
