DSWD amends SAP guidelines

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has amended several guidelines on the Social Amelioration Program (SAP) to expedite the distribution of cash assistance.

Under the amended guidelines, the validation of SAP beneficiaries will be done after the payout.

The social welfare agency used to check the validity of beneficiaries before giving out cash assistance which triggered complaints on the slow process.

DSWD Spokesperson Irene Dumlao explains that the validation of the beneficiaries is significant to avoid repetition of payouts.

The DSWD has so far distributed PhP 57.8 billion to the Local Government Units (LGUs) as part of SAP.
