PRRD: Send home 24,000 OFWs in quarantine facilities within one week

President Rodrigo R. Duterte has given one week for the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), and the Department of Health (DOH) to send home 24,000 Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) stuck in hotels and quarantine facilities.

Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque announced early Monday morning that the President has strictly ordered the concerned agencies to transport back to their respective provinces the OFWs who have been waiting for the release of their PCR test results.

According to Presidential Spokesperson Roque, the Chief Executive cannot accept the fact that despite the sacrifices of the OFWs, they are distressed due to the testing procedures of the Philippines.

President Duterte gave the authority to the concerned agencies to maximize all government resources. He also expressed his wish to strengthen the PCR testing in different areas of the country, so that the OFWs will not be required to stay in Metro Manila and instead proceed directly to their respective hometowns. – Report from Mela Lesmoras
