Hotels prepare to accept guests under GCQ

Several hotels are preparing to accept guests in anticipation of Metro Manila being placed under General Community Quarantine.

Under the GCQ, partial operation of hotels is allowed provided that health protocols are followed.

Based on the guidelines released by the Department of Tourism (DOT), checking in at hotels, resorts, motels and other accommodations are allowed to operate while tourists and workers in the said industry are also permitted. However, dining in and public gatherings are still prohibited.

Physical distancing must be strictly observed and sanitation of rooms and spots where guests stay must be done often.

According to the DOT, couples and family members can avail of double or twin occupancy rooms provided that there is a distance of one to two meters between the beds.

The DOT has underscored that its priority is the safety of the guests to have a balance between economy and health under the “New Normal”.
