Pres. Duterte places NCR, Region 2, 3, 4A, Davao City, Pangasinan, Albay under GCQ

President Rodrigo R. Duterte has officially imposed the general community quarantine (GCQ) over NCR, Region 2, 3, 4A, Davao City, Pangasinan, and Albay on Thursday night while the rest of the country has been placed under modified general community quarantine.

“We are not happy to put you in this place but after review maybe we can. In other areas, it will be again on a piecemeal basis depending on the viability of the place to meet the challenges of COVID. From time to time, Secretary Roque would give us the places where there will be changes.”

The President is confident that the vaccine against Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) will be available in the next few months.

“September, I think, China will be able to distribute if I’m not mistaken. They work and I’m very sure that they will be the first one, one of the countries that would be able to come up with a vaccine.”

The Chief Executive has pointed out that the implementation of strict measures is for the safety of the public.

“There is no martial law in the Philippines. Far from it. We are exercising the power of the state to protect public health. That is all there is to it.” President Duterte has stated. – Report from Mela Lesmoras
