Selected public transportation to operate starting June 1

In accordance with the guidelines of the DOTr, trains, bus augmentation, taxis, TNVS, shuttle services, bicycles, and an additional 200 P2P buses with the route from North Avenue to Makati and Alabang to Makati will start operations on June 1 until June 21.

DOTr Senior Transport Consultant Bert Suansing pointed out that no provincial buses will operate since they are still focused on transporting Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) back to their respective provinces.

However, traveling to a province from Metro Manila is allowed using private vehicles and individuals travelling are part of the Authorized Person Outside of Residence (APORs).

Modern Public Utility Vehicles (PUVs) can operate starting June 22 until June 30 but only if the first set of public transportation is not enough to service commuters. According to the DOTr, the traditional jeepneys can be allowed to operate provided that they will comply with the cashless payment and consolidate their franchise.

The DOTr has reiterated that all PUVs must comply with the limited capacity policy. – Report from Karen Villanda
