MRT-3 ready to resume operation on June 1

According to the administration of the Metro Rail Transit System, from the regular 15 train sets, 19 train sets will operate on Monday that consist of 16 CKD train sets and 3 Dalian train sets which started their test run Sunday.

MRT-3 Director for operations Michael Capati stated that the trains had no trouble running and are prepared to serve the passengers who are going back to work. Since commuters are expected to flock the stations, the headway has been decreased from 9 minutes to 6 minutes for faster travel.

The trains will run from the regular 30 to 40 kilometers per hour (KPH) in some stations due to the new railings installed during the Enhanced Community Quarantine and Modified ECQ.

The MRT-3 stations will strictly implement the health protocols such as the checking of body temperature, disinfection of commuters using alcohol and of trains every 5 minutes and every stop at the North Avenue station and Taft station, markers are also present on platforms and inside the train.

Additional security personnel are also in attendance to ensure the observance of health protocols and the 153 capacity per train set.

Authorities have appealed to the public for their cooperation and to follow health protocols to prevent the further spread of the Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19).
