NLEX Harbor Link opens June 15

The NLEX Harbor Link Expansion opens to the public starting June 15, 5:00 p.m.

The NLEX Harbor Link Expansion is an expressway from Caloocan Interchange C3 to Mel Lopez Boulevard, formerly known as R-10.

Department of Public Works and Highway (DPWH) Secretary Mark Villar, along with Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea, Department of Transportation (DOTr) Sec. Arthur Tugade, Sec. Vince Dizon, Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) Sec. Martin Andanar and NLEX Corporation President and General Manager Luigi Bautista were the first to traverse the newly-constructed expressway on Monday morning.

According to the DPWH, the project is a 2.6-kilometer new section that will give direct access in between R10 and Navotas City and NLEX. The C3-R10 section have a 3 exit off-ramps that are Segment 10-C3 Ramp to Caloocan City, Dagat-Dagatan Ramp to Malabon City and C3-R10 Ramp to Navotas City.

Motorists especially truckers will have an easier route to and from the port of Manila to NLEX. Sec. Villar stated that due to the project, the travel time from Manila to Quezon City will be shorter by an estimated 15 to 20 minutes.

The toll fee is currently free until the Toll Regulatory Board has processed rates. The NLEX Corporation has ensured that health protocols are implemented in the expressway especially in the construction of the project.

PCOO Sec. Andanar stated that the NLEX Harbor Link Expansion is a proof of the Filipinos’ resiliency. Even in times of crisis, projects are still successfully finished. – Report from Allan Francisco
