President Rodrigo R. Duterte submitted his 12th weekly report to Congress on the government’s response against coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
The Chief Executive reported that the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) approved the Php 9.8 million project for clinical trials of high dose melatonin as supplementary treatment for COVID-19 patients who have pneumonia. The project will be conducted by a group from Manila Doctors Hospital in a span of four months and will be participated in by 350 patients.
The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), Department of Transportation (DOTr) and Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA), formed a technical group to focus on the establishment of the Metro Manila-wide Bicycle Lane for national and local roads.
In line with the government’s aid, the Chief Executive mentioned that more than Php 44 billion have been distributed under the Small Business Wage Subsidy program.
The Department of Education (DepEd) approved the new computerized learning modules for Math and Science that will be used by teachers and students for the upcoming new delivery mode, that is, distance and blended learning. There are currently 132 self-learning materials in DepEd Commons.
