397 officials face raps on SAP issues

Three hundred and ninety-seven barangay and LGU officials are now facing criminal charges for their alleged involvement on irregularities in the distribution of the Social Amelioration Program (SAP) payout.

DILG Secretary Eduardo Año assured President Duterte on Monday evening 600 officials involved in corruption in the SAP distribution are under investigation, along with some government employees tagged as accomplices.

Aῆo also reported that 4.2 million families out of the five million left out have already been accounted for and are set to receive the cash subsidy in the second tranche.

The DILG and the DSWD are in continuous coordination for the SAP second tranche payout which is meant to be completed by June 23.

DSWD Secretary Rolando Bautista clarified the areas included in the second tranche of SAP are NCR, Region 3 except Aurora province, Calabarzon, Benguet, Pangasinan, Albay, Iloilo, Cebu, Bacolod, Davao, and Zamboanga.

Meanwhile, validation process in ongoing after the DSWD found out around 22,000 families received doubled aid from the amelioration of other government agencies.
